Riser gaskets??? help

Hi, I have a 1987 gm 4.3l merc I/O. I was wondering if my gaskets on the risers are the right ones.
I have the top one with the small holes on the side. Is that the right one?


If they are the right ones how are they installed on the riser. I have the holes installed to bow and stern. not port to star.

IS that right?

They are not square. They should only fit one way, bow to stern is correct. Atleast on mine it is! i too have a 4.3L Merc

Yes. they restrict water flow.
