riser gaskets...

i have a 4.3 ltr. vortec. got new risers with the 2 hole gaskets. the original gasket was a 4 hole. whats the difference (other than 2 holes) and what should i use. thanks

At the risk of sounding contrite, would the 2 hole gasket cover up holes the 4 hole gasket wouldn't? Seems like covering holes would be a bad thing on a riser.

not sure but i think he means the water passage holes on each side.

i wouldn't change, and try to get a match for what you took out.
i have ran into this on my junk and have always held out for what was in the riser when taken apart.
i also haven't had any heating issues this way.

Is this 4.3 Vortec a Mercruiser? If so, what year, what kind of manifolds and risers?

its a 98' mercruiser with BLM manifolds and risers...
