Hey everyone, just bought my first boat. The previous owner had it for 2 years and never pulled the risers, so I wanted some piece of mind. I pulled them off and took some pics. I think they are good to go, just need to clean them up, but wanted some opinions from more experienced owners. These look fine to you?

clean the gasket mating surface, then post pics.

also, you have a lot of blow-by residue on top the valve covers which may be an issue. are your valve cover vent hoses to the spark arrestor intact?

as well as blackening of the red paint, which would indicate an exhaust leak at the manifold to the head.

what year volvo are you working on?

It's a 2003 5.0GXi-B. there was one hose from.the valve cover to the flame arrestor, it was intact but there was a lot of buildup on the arrestor. I took it off and hit it with carb cleaner and a toothbrush. I'll check for leaks around the manifold. Thanks for the tips

Ayuh,..... Clean all the gasket surfaces, check for flatness, 'n then decide how much more life they have,......

In yer last picture, a manifold, has a spot of rust on the left outer rail surface, that may, or may not clean up,.....
'n is that an Osb panel in yer boat,..?? Never seen Osb used in a boat, as it hates water,.....

I was curious about the OSB panels, seemed like a weird choice. There are two dividers made of OSB with carpet wrapped around them that separate the sides of the engine compartment from the engine. It doesn't look OEM but I wasn't sure. There are just some L brackets screwed to the floor and back of the seats to hold them in place.

I will clean up the flanges one night this week and post pics.
