Hi all

1998 Mercruiser V8 5 litre with raw water cooling,
First time on the water yesterday and everything ran ok with a constant temp of about 175 i think, (middle of the gauge).

Today i started her up and let her idle for about ten minutes and noticed that she was up to temp, then just happened to touch one exhaust riser and then the other, the port side was only mildy warm but the stardboard side was a lot hotter, not overly hot that you couldn't hold your hand on her.

I haven't had the chance to inspect the manifolds and risers yet, but on this forum it has been said that there can be a temp difference between the risers.
uWhat should the temps be, should i not use her again until inspection.
Will she be ok until the end of the season, (mid October).
The water pump impellor in the leg is brand new with lots of water flow.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Riser temperatures

Normal for the starboard side to be warmer, has to do with water flow thru the block. A good rule of thumb is you should be about to hold your hand on risers. I say you are good too go.
