Trying to replace my transom, the top cap is riveted, any suggestions on how to tackle this obstacle?

Re: riviting

Wild,

Just make sure you use a drill size smaller than the rivit itself. If the rivits have a hole in the middle(ole's) you are good to go. If there is a steel shaft in the center(cherry max), you will need to grind the locking ring off that shaft before you drill. In both cases, just drill till the head comes off and use a small punch and light hammer to get the rivet out. If you do this you won't oversize the holes with the drill. Have fun I am 2 steps ahead of you in my project.

Now aren't you glad that wasn't a smart-a$$ answer.
