Next week I'll be driving from Idaho to Austin, about 1800 land miles. I'll stop in Rifle to visit some old friends for a day or so, then on to Santa Fe for another reunion for a couple of days. Now on the jog from Santa Fe to Austin, about 800 land miles and I've allowed myself 2 days, what am I going to see. Anything I shouldn't miss? Come on you Texans Give me something to do in Western Texas. Thanks in advance. Chief Chief .)

That's an easy one. Close your eyes, Cadillac Graveyard, Close your eyes. That's what you'll see from Albuquerque to Oklahoma City on I40...

Remember the Who song with the lyrics "I can see for miles and miles"? That pretty much describes west Texas, miles and miles of miles and miles. That is what you will see from the interstate anyway. Oh and it will be really hot, but as they say, its a 'dry' heat. lol

The Hunters Tent probably won't be up yet in Rifle, but there will be parties starting in Austin8) Have a safe trip, and obey the traffic laws in Texas, or you'll be in a heap of trouble:love:

100% agreed. I've been through them 3 times, they never get old. Arches, Bryce - pictures do no justice...

I'll miss southern Utah on this trip and even tho that area is one of my favorite places on earth I have not the time right now. I guess I'll just have to put the Lexus in "autopilot" and close my eyes to Pink Floyd for countless hours. Thanks, Chief Chief .)

Leaving in a couple of hours headed south. I'll drive to Austin and fly back. I'm thinking the last leg from Santa Fe to my destination is like the "Dark side of the moon". Adios for a while. Chief Chief .)
