Motor Swap: Trying to get ready to install another motor I purchased. LOTs of problems being worked out...

1991 Mercruiser 3.0 140 with alpha one taken out of boat. (1991 Bayliner)
1981 Mercruiser 140 that im replacing it with had a pre-alpha outdrive that i dont have...

1. the 1991 had a mer-carb with electric choke and throttle cable connecton on the throttle body.
1981 has a Rochester 2 jet carb.... is missing the mechanical-cable style choke system and im not sure which style was on there...(hot air, cable electric i doubt)? Anyone have a picture of what it should look like? also will the same throttle control cable cable from the valve cover application on the 1991 still work on the manifold mounted throttle cable connection on the 1981? Again, any pictures? thanks. WHERE WOULD I RUN A PURPLE WIRE FROM FOR AN ELECTRIC CHOKE ON THIS MOTOR IF I HAD THE OLDER STYLE IGNITION SYSTEM; NOT POINTS, BUT ELECTRIC ROTOR...PRE EST OR DDIS...

so loud! hurts my ears when you yell

when you download the manual that was posted with a link in your other thread, take a look at the wiring diagram

you will see that the purple/yellow wire that operates the electric choke comes off the alternator

Well I got spark on the existing ignition system. The harness that goes with it has a connection for the electric choke, so that should work. Thanks for the tip.
