I have a '67 SeaRay with a mercruiser 120 IO 4cyl engine. I am rebuilding the carb. There are two small balls in the rebuild kit. I know one (the larger steel ball) goes Under the "T" and is held by a long spring. Does the other smaller ball get dropped into the accelerator pump well OR does this carb even use the smaller ball. I did not find one when I disassembled the carb. However, they may be one in the bottom trough that is stuck at the outer edge and barely visable. Please advise.

Some used the ball in pump well and some didnt.Look for a half moon spring that holds the ball in.Another way to tell is if yours has a screen in fuel bowl over the tiny hole.If no screen then no ball.

Re: Rochester 2bbl carb rebuild question

There was no screen in fuel bowl and no half moon spring in pump well. There was just the long spring in pump well for the accelerator pump. So, now I can complete the job. Thanks so much for the info. It's a real challenge to keep this 44 year old vessel running in top condition.
