Rochester Carb float adjustment

Hi all. I was having a problem with the carb on my 1969 Mercruiser 120 I/O flooding out when I went from high rpm to low rpm. It would dump over 1/2" of fuel on top of the butterfly when I tried to slow down. Anyway, I bought a rebuild kit and new float figuring it could use a complete rebuild. When it came time to instal and adjust the float, the manual said to use the specs given with the rebuild kit directions. The rebuild kit does not list any boat motors, just automotive. So, if anyone out there knows what the 2 measurements are, I would greatly appreciate the help. Carb is off a 1969 Merc 120 I/O. Carb sn is 7028086, then has 22981 under that. It also has a Mercury metal tag on it that has 1336-3594A1 on it. I bought the kit from the local Merc repair shop, not an automotive shop. I called them to ask for the measurements, but they don't work on anything older than 1980. david, here is some specs out of my merc. manual vol. 2 c-90-68648. i don't know if this book apply's to yer stuff, but i'm thinkin it may. under carb specs. carb model 2GC, 7026086. float level 5/8". <br />float drop, 1-29/32".....

If the fuel is being expelled from the tube that sticks into the carb throat at the top of the carb, you are missing a check ball.

Thanks to both of you. I was missing 1 check ball, but the one you are describing was there. All balls have been replaced. <br />David
