Has anybody ever used i-5 components on e-bay? They seem to refurbish most carburettors and seem fairly professional.
cheers Bob

I don't know of them specifically. But most rebuilders do a good job, especially if it's their line and not a sideline. It's not a hard job and they do bunches in a day where a typical mechanic might do a few a month. You can't beat experience like that. :)

Have a look at their feedback and their guarantee. I'd prefer a money-back guarantee to a replacement guarantee.

On Ebay, its so very simple to LOOK at the feedback of the seller..if there selling crap, it won't be for long. My 2 cents is get a Edelbrock, and make a fish habitat with the Qjet

Re: rochester carb refurbishers on e-bay

I presently have the Rochester QJet.. They both will require some work this year. I can get 2 rebuilt units for $198 each excluding core charge (must send old one back $68 core each). What is involved in switching to a simpler 4 barrel carb with same or equiv. CFM from Edlebrock or Webber or Carter? How much for other alternatives...? What about linkage and fuel line adaptation?

Would anyone have any answer to my prior question re: switching to a different carb?

Paul,

Edelbrock makes a 750cfm marine, squarebore, the #1410. They are less than $300 each at Jeg's and other sources. About the lowest cost marine carb you are going to get, new. Not sure if it would be close enough tuning out of the box, but you will probably want the tuning kit. They run about $50 each. Fuel line changes from qjet to weber/edelbrock. Flame arrestor should fit. You may have to change intake manifolds or use the dreaded squarebore to qjet adapters. This would probably raise the height, about an inch. Check to see if you have enough space. Might be a few other minor items. I am not that familiar with BBs.

I just took off my old Qjet and put a 600cfm holley it runs great but I do not like the vacum secondaries I just ordered a rebuilt Qjet from the website above with mechanical secondaries. I paid $304.00 total so I hope I like this one better if somone wants to but it it is for sale not a thing wrong with it.
