Appreciate any feedback,

I have a Mercruiser 3.0L 140 SN#6209792. It has a Rochester 2bbl, #7043183.

I had some hot start issues where the gas dripping onto the throttle plates after shut down and causing rich situation and inability to restart unless I went to WOT.

I was hoping to adjust the carb this weekend but I'm getting some conflicting info in the manuals I have. Would someone please give me the current float setting for this carb.

Thanks,
Ken

I don't have it off the top of my head, but if you're tearing the top off that carb, it's an easy one to redo. You likely have something stuck in the float or needle valve. Check the idle speed circuit as well. Most people have no idea how to adjust these carbs.

I rebuilt quite a few of these and could do it in about 2-3 hours.

Re: Rochester float settings

Thanks for the info,

I was hoping to just adjust. Ain't broke don't pay extra to fix it mantra. It runs and idles great once you get it started although a little rich for my likeing.

So what you are saying is.....if your going to be in that far.....may as well completely rebuild it? I've done car carbs, should I look for anything different here?

I have the original setting in my manual for the float but i was told there was some changes due to flooding problems and even the needle and seat were changed to a spring loaded one. The float levels where also changed?

Anybody have the setting
