Re: Rockfish Chesapeake Bay
When I lived in Pasadena,Md.I lived next to Stoney Creek in Riveria Beach.
Go straight out of Stoney Creek towards the steel plant, till you hit the old oyster bar that runs parallel with the shipping chanel. It's only about 1 to1 1/2 ft shallower than the regulr bottom. About 1/10th to 2/10ths a mile back in towards the creek from the channel.I anchor and chum using big chunks of menhaden or blues for bait anything oily.I use circle hooks.Use a fishfinder rig and remember don't SET the hook.Just reel.
If you want to troll, Love Point towards the Baltimore Channel.I used Umbrella rigs and parachute rigs and cripled alwives lures and Tonys#19.
Out of Bodkins Creek Go south to the buoy in front of the causeway going into Gibson Island(don't remember the #) There is a lot of lumps there.Fishing almost anyway will catch them there. One day on grass shrimp we caught 8 or so 5 to 15#ers. We lost one that was better than 40#
Another day I released one that went over 70#.No camera, no witnes and it was the week before the season opened after the moritorium. Now I always take a camera.Jerry
