today me and son went out to take the boat out of the water, while i was driving the boat i felt something brush up on my leg i look down and there was this racoon walking around apprently his was below the hull and came up thru and open port hole. scared the hell out of me,i let him walk around on the boat then he wentunder the console i put the cover on it and waited till we took the boat out of the water, i open the cover and he finally came out and went up a tree, boy what an experience driving the boat on the open water with a racoon aboard, and he was not even invited! :)

Johnson 110,
Sounds like you handled the situation perfectly...it would have been a stupid human trick if you had panicked and bailed out of the boat, while underway, and left your son on the boat alone with the raccoon. ;)

Just my $0.02 worth,
Joe

Just a thought Rodbolt....what kind of fish were you after with a shotgun? Or is that just part of the normal safety equipment onboard? ;) :D
Bang Bang

Dave

in the bayous and creeks of LA (lower alabama). a shotgun in the boat is always nice to have. some times its for safty sometimes you may bag some game while fishing. if all else fails you can shoot at pie pan sized red wasp nests :)
that is another long and funny story :)

Here's a wasp-nest thread, rodbolt, I'd like to hear your story whenever you get around to it.

Re: rocky racoon

Jtexas
me an a frined were doing some catfishing on the chicasabot river, outside of saraland AL, we were tied up and imbibing some cool refershments watching some funny looking fools that had imbibed more then us. seems they were collecting wasp larve for bait by zooming past the tree limbs and knocking the pie-pan sized wasp nests from the limbs. one of the nests fell in the boat so they bailed out. a good plan had they shut the motor off. wec hased that boat for a good 20 min and was laughing so hard it was tough. seems some of the wasps would wait for them to resurface and get them some more :)
that is why I dont use wasp larve :)
