Dont know if you have read my post "Think I hurt my gearbox".
Is it posible for a prop strike to cause damage up in the powerhead, like a crank bearing or something, and it only show up with the motor under load, ie in gear?
The mechanic who checked for a bent propshaft, seemed to think the LU was fine  .

Thanks for any advice... only way to tell is dissasemble the gear case and have a look
if it chipped a gear its expensive. I doubt it hurt a crank bearing. that normally sounds like marbles in a can.
what is your shaft lenth or post me the model number

then also check the bushing in the exhaust housing
if your that concerned about the lower crank bearing then place a dial indicator on the crank at the flywheel nut and pull up. should have less than .oo5" or so travel
good luck and keep posting
