I am almost at the stage of applying a two part poly paint manufactured by Jotun called Hardtop AS.

Which method is the best to use , should I roll and tip or spray.

I have read in this forum about dangers involved in a two part paint pack.

I have not mastered the roll and tip method , and am afraid of leaving brush marks.

Any suggestions?

Hello Scuba..

With proper prep Spray is the best/quickest way ..

However.. you have to have the proper equiptment/site to atomize spray ( this is not your rattle can paint job here..) you have to protect Others around you FIRST .. then YOU .. you have to have a Ventalated space to spray/prime/spray etc.

2 part Arisoled paints are just Bad news.. they are the best way to apply paint IMHO..

If you dont have the facility to do this job .. then roll and tip is good.. you just have to practice ( and have a buddy or 2 there to help you with some fosters when done :) ) .

Generally speaking spraying is probably the best way to apply any finish. But you need specialized equipment to do it. Not to mention the know-how. Roll on marine paints also take a little practice to get just right, but you can get good results using them with a roller and a brush.

Wow that looks outstanding, those two paint jobs were rolled and tipped? I have done some painting in the past but I would rather not go through all of that this time around due to many reasons. Where can I get good tips and tricks on applying marine paint?

Right Here on iBoats. Just do a search on Roll and Tip and you will get all the info you need on method and techniques. Great Results. Alot depends on temperature, humidity, time of day, prep, location (inside outside) but you can get good results with time and effort

I'm just sayin...:D
