I no longer have the part's or service manual. Does the 1956 OMC 30 HP have roller bearing's, or a bushing on the wrist pin?

Re: Roller bearing's

Looked at an couple of different models and they are calling for a bearing.
Give me the model number and I will check it closer for you.

The engine is at the river at present. It is a rope start, 1956 30 HP Johnson. It should'nt make any difference as to model as they would all use the same bearing. They were only rope, oe electric start. The service manual may show a better picture if you have one.

It uses the narrow Torrington needle bearings, two per con rod. Part number 304322. They were sort of notorious for the needles getting out and making grooves in the cylinder.

Oh yea. I picked a motor up some years back that got the pistons hogged out from those needle bearings getting loose in there. Not a pretty site.

When that happens, it's best to write off the engine block and the pistons.
