rookie move: trailer stuck, advise [fixed!]

Hey all,

I made a nice move Monday night trying to get creative on parking my boat and got the trailer stuck on the ground. It scraped the dirt and is caught on a slight decline that drops of a bit after that (see pic).

Need advice on how to lift/turn without it rolling down the hill. I have the wheels chalked with rocks but am not sure what will happen when I jack the trailer up.

Any ideas? Feel free to laugh, that's pretty much all I can do at this point.

As long as you have decent sized rocks behind the wheels, you can lift the front of the trailer all you want. It won't go anywhere. Lifting the trailer is easy, you can do that with a jack. Can you get a vehicle in there to move the trailer, or are you needing to do this without a vehicle?

why not take a drop draw bar take the ball off flip it over so it becomes a rise, put the ball on then hook up and pull the boat out that way? It'll raise the front of the trailer up so you can get it over that hill.

Trailer should handle lots of scraping. Jack and license plate maybe not. If you have traction just give it more gas.

Get a good sheet of plywood, get a jack with wheels (floor jack), lay plywood down so one end is under trailer tongue, you will have to have something to pull with, come along (Ratchet cable winch puller), Winch, tow vehicle to pull trailer around while on the jack, very carefully.

You might need some chain. Unhitch, re-approach with tow vehice from side and use length of chain to turn her.

Can't see the whole layout, so I am hoping you have so better option with a different line down/up the hill.

Take dips at angles, not straight across. Maybe turn as suggested by me and then take the dip at angle (shallow angle as possible).

Like previously mentioned.....if you have the wheels chocked, it won't move..if the trailer gets momentum you might have an issue...Chocking the wheels should solve this...raise up the tongue....hook it up and go.

I've done very similar by backing the boat/trailer off the end of a boat ramp. You need to hook up your tow vehicle, jack up boat, put blocks/boards of wood under tires, drive it away. In my case I had to jack the trailer under muddy water, just had to feel my way under it!

Thanks guys for taking the time.

My issue with just jacking it up is that it drops off about 2ft in front of the trailer so I can't really go forward with the trailer - you can see the front of the trailer is off the ground a little bit and it drops down more. I'm thinking I need to swing the trailer around to the left and then hook up.

Turning it some and then taking it at an angle might work.

If ya got some buddies get them to weight the stern while you move it by the tounge and have your wife or someone standing by in the truck to hook to when ready.

**I once wore a hole in my hull by not getting the boat in the trailer and drove 600miles with a tire rub...well atleast it wasn't my boat..LOL

All good! A neighbor was able to throw a tow strap on the back after I got it jacked up and got the wheel down and it rolled right up & out of position. Now back to work on getting it in the water!

Thx again for the advice!
