Rope Start 65 Commercial ETEC

[Platypus E65]

Whenever my 65 ETEC runs out of gas it's a b**** to startup again. I followed the instructions in the manual to the letter but it takes a LOT of pulls to start it back up again. I know of a couple other owners that are seeing the same thing happen with their rope start 40 & 65 ETECs. Is this normal for these outboards or am I doing something wrong?

You should never let the gas run out. The tech told me that when I first bought mine. You get air in the lines, which takes forever to clear.
