Rotor/distributor on a merc 500????

Today i wanted to test if my merc 500 with year 1965 would run and i found out that underneeth the distrubutor cap the rotor was broken off.

Now i found a new one how do i now how to put it on the right way over the axle.

Is there something that i should now or can i just put it together without any trouble. (doesn't it have something like the right timing)

There is a blind spline on the shaft and rotor, make sure the tensioner clip is installed in the blind spline in the rotor before installing it.

Thanks a lot i think i now what you mean. The only thing i didn't understand was the tensioner clip, what do you mean by this, how does it look like and where can i look for it? Greetings
