hi all, i have a 1990 wellcraft 20' with a 4.3. about 4 years ago i completely gutted the boat and did it over 100 %, there was nothing i didnt touch. i put new stringers in and bulk heads and a new deck and new foam the transom was solid, what i did not do was put new motor mounts in. at the time they looked good.
last year i noticed that they were a little mushy and somehow the alignment was still good. there was a hole on the side of the box, reached in and started to pull out some rotten wood now i have to pull the engine and do these over. my questine is what type of wood do i use and how do you go about doing these. im a carpenter so the wood work is not a problem for me.
how do you attach them, is the wood attached to the stringer by screws or another way. is the wood suppose to touch the fiberglass on the bottom or no, if not do you some kind of bedding. the boxes are about foot and a half long and about ten inches high. dont ask for pictures cause i dont have any my camera disappeared. thanks for any help in advance.
