Hi all.I have been reading up on all of the forums on iboats and i finally got the courage to tackle my own boat project. I will post some pics of my project as it goes along. My question relates to the placement of the bunks. They seem to be in way too far toward the center of the boat. The boat seemed to teeter side to side some as i brought it home.I am sure the severely rotten wood in the hull has some effect on this. What do you guys think?

The teetering is more likely due to the bunks being too close together. At least thats the way the photo makes it look to me. Do you have a another photo that shows the whole width of the transom and trailer? If the bunks are too close together, it's no big deal to re-locate them on the frame.

Re: Rotten wood ,Ants and bunk boards

Thanks for the fast reply. As requested i have attached a better pic of my transom showing the location of the bunks.Let me explain,i am rebuilding the hull on an 87 procraft trihull and as i was looking to trade for it i noticed that the hull was sagging under the weight of the boat as it sat on the bunks.Of course on closer inspection my suspicions were confirmed. I was met with major wood rot, enough ants to fill up a gallon bucket and a giant centipede that rared up at me before i squashed it ( never seen that before lol ).The only reservation i have about relocating the bunks is the area i feel they should go is directly inline with the port and starboard keels of the trihull where the bottom of the boat flattens back out. Will that present a problem while i load the boat.It looks like it would sit perfectly where i am talking about but i am open to any conjecture on anyones part. Thanks in advance.
