Yamaha VMax 150. Model V150TLRB just mounted on my Javelin. I've had it out 1 time for 1 hour and the idle is still extremely rough. I did drain the gas tank today and plan on taking it out this Saturday. I'm hoping the rough idle will cure itself with fresh fuel, but I was hoping someone could give me a few suggestions if the fuel is not the issue. Ran good on plane (3000 RPM).
Thanks

Gerald

The dealer I bought the Engine from is 6 hours North. I'm hoping I don't have to make that kind of road trip.

Thanks Again

hello
without actually seeing and hearing I cant really tell if its rough running or not. look at the plugs. if they are dark close the idle mix screws 1/8 of a turn if they are light try to open them 1/8 . if its a new motor you may wish to consult the dealer. sometimes the double oil will affect the idle speed and stability.
good luck and keep posting

Well, I took my Rig out Saturday with a freind of mine. Finally stretched her out after my hour meter hit 3 hours. My speedo was registering 68 MPH at 5400 RPM with no chine walk....WOW am I impressed. I'll just live with the rough idle until the end of the break-in and change plugs then. Hopefully that will solve the problem. Thanks for the advice.

Gerald

well gerry, are you runnning a 25/1 oil mix for the break in, if so that could be the problem,
if so, try changing the plugs, if problem persists, then wait for break-in, could be os is trying to compensate for rich oil and can't. In any case, idling issues are better addressed after break-in. Rough idling could stem from many factors like idle speed fuel circuits, vacum
leaks, sour fuel, emulsified water in fuel, malfunctioning sensors which could leed to incorrect idle timing, defective thermostat opening to early not allowing proper engine warm-up, man the list is a mile long. I suggest tryng the simple plug thing first and wait till the break-in is up, if that don't remedy the problem
then it is in your best interest to take it back to the dealer to resolve the issue.
