hey guys,
My '91 4.3L OMC is having idling issues. In November, I started replacing the outdrive, and I'm just getting to test it out. It ran okay then. I only ran it once to find out the outdrive was shot, so I don't remember all of its quirks, but I don't remember having this much of a problem with it.
I'm trying to start it up in my driveway before I have to drive it all the way out to the lake, and I can't get it to Idle smooth. If I bump it up to between 800 and 1000 RPMs it smooths out a little, but still isn't perfectly smooth. It revs up fine and all but when I come back down to 600 RPM, it just wants to die. It takes it 10 or 15 seconds to completely die out, but it does.
I live in Phoenix, where it doesn't freeze, so I don't think that's my problem.
My first guess is going to be old gas. The guy I bought it from SAID he'd put stabil in the gas, but then again he told me everything worked perfect too. So I'm' going for fresh gas now.
What else should I check? I'd like to go for the easiest things first, but it seems like the only EASY fix would be fresh gas.
Thanks in advance.
