Rough running stalling

Hello fellow boaters.i have a 1988 sierra 165 v with 3.0 mercrusier.
Will not start unless i manualy slightly open air flap on carb.it wiil run rough for 30 seconds then die,popping back through carb.boat was rebiult 3-4 years ago hasnt been ran in 2 years.sounds like timni any insight would be great.

If it hasn't been run in 2 years, I'd say your either running on bad fuel, or the carb is gummed up.. the choke flap should be closed when starting cold, then once it fires should open to about 1/8" then the choke should warm up with the engine.

Popping back through carb can be a LEAN Condition, which your "idle" circuit is probably plugged.. if carful you can remove the top of the carb without removing the carb. ( need to disconnect the fuel line at the carb )

Hello my name is Mervin and i recently purchase a 1987 sierra 165v 3.0 mercruser, i'm trying to repair the interior and seats but i have no idea what the boat initialy had, when i got the boat all the iterior was gone, i will extremely apreciate if you could send me some pictures of your boat so that i can use as a reference to fabricate the engine cover and rear seat, by the way i've been a mechanic for 15 year and i can help you with any mechanical problems including your carburator, in fact i can gide you step by step in the repair and send you pictures to gide you.
