hi, i have a strong running '89 3.0 merc with around 300 hours.. its always run well for me until this past weekend. a couple times throughout the day when hitting larges wakes or high chop my engine would start bogging out. i would have to bring it back down to idle, then would run fine again. this wouldnt happen all the time, but just usually when slamming the boat hard off a wake. almost as if it was starving for fuel briefly.again,it would run fine after throttling down to idle, then getting back up to speed.. and this problem wont happen on calm water, just in the chop. could i have a fuel pump starting to fail or maybe carb related problem or any other ideas??
i would appreciate any help

Do you have a water separtor filter (the big like and oil filter)

the rough water could be sloshing the tank up so much your sucking up water that would stay below the pickup in normal conditions
