rowing a portaboat

Hello folks,

I have a 10 foot portabote, love almost everything about it. No trailer, easy to haul on my car and I can launch anywhere, I have the sail rig and have a blast. My only question I hope someone can help with is: I have to row a lot (when the wind dies...) and I notice that with every stroke, the gunnel of the Portaboat flexes pretty severely by the oarlock , seems to lose a lot of efficiency on my rowing stroke, as well as it can't be good for the boat to have all the flexing hour after hour (yes I row a lot!)

Do you have any suggestions for how to stiffen up that area to prevent (or lessen) this flex?

thanks
Kyle
