Hey,
I was just going thru the Jegs website and ran across the oil & gear lube section. I've heard good about the Royal Purple Oils & Lubes. Has anyone out there used them in their OMC Drives or motors.
Just kinda curious as to what everyone thinks.

Every synthetic gear lube I have checked has the qualities necesary for an outdrive that requires a group 4-5 gear lube. Anti foaming, and moisture protection. Contact Royal Purple for information. I know for fact that the Amsoil marine gear lube is the same as the automotive, only repackaged.

Lubedude, I was trying to remember your member name. Thanks for the input. Have you ever used Royal Purple?

Your '87 Cobra stern drive was made to use the Hi-Vis oil in it. Later years OMC came out with Ultra HPf gear lube and recommended it for all outboards and Cobra mechanical shift outdrives like yours. It is a semi-synthetic oil that workd great and costs less than Royal Purple, Amzoil, etc. It is also available at any Johnson/Evinrude dealer so you do not have to pay to have it shipped to you.

The Ulra HPf is made with additives that protect your gears even with 10% water intrusion
