RPM and WOT...

Good day,

I recently purchased a 20ft Deep V-hulled boat repowered with a 200hp Oceanpro (96')... apparantly the seller had only enabled about 60% of throttle to be used (for "zoning" reasons), however im seeing 5500 rpm on the tach with a 21 (14.5 Diam) pitch prop with 60% throttle which essentially means that I am underproped if I am to go WOT. The boat itself is VERY light which I assume adds to the high rpm at only 60% throttle.

If anyone can give me any insight as to what I should do If I am to utilize the full power of the engine, it would be greatly appreicated.. Im thinking upgrade to a 26 pitch then adjust the throttle.

Regards

**Quite embarrising to have boats of similar size with 90hp's fly across me** :(

Here is a pic ... should 40mph be all this boat can get?

Re: RPM and WOT...

For your prop issue we need more info:
What speed does it go now at WOT?
What is the rpm range of the engine?
Are you sure the rpm is correct, meaning is the engine really hitting 5500 now?

Now, as for how fast should the boat go, you may be able to estimate that once the rpm and speed are known, then looking at the max hp for the hull. If less than 200 then I imagine 40 is about it. And if it is rated for less than 200 maybe that is why the previous owner had it governed. If it is rated for 200 or more then 40+ should be attainable.

Is that the stock engine mounting?
