Someone told me 5400 ,Thats about what it does. But another friend is telling me 4800,,is 5400 to high, I very seldom run it wide open,the same friend says thats not good either!
5400 would be a minimum target rpm with a very heavy load. I have found they live longer and perform better if propped out at around 5800 with an average load. 4800 is severly loading the motor and will shorten engine life and efficiency dramaticly.<br /><br />Good luck!
I agree with both Dhadley and djohns19. <br /><br />My Evinrude '86 140 turns about 5700-5800 rpm and seems to treat me pretty good.<br /><br />2 strokes are meant to get up and go! Running it too slow for too long will do nothing but carbon it up and reduce engine life.<br /><br />Cheers.
