RPM module on Mercruiser 260?

First time boat owner wondering where the "sensor" for the tach is on my Mercruiser 260?

A wire from the '-' side of the coil runs up to the back of the tacho. The tacho measure the pulse rate and uses that and the setting of the switch on the back of the tacho.... Then converts that to a voltage which moves the needle.
