hope im not posting too much, have posted about 4 times in the last month. The advice and tips I get from this forum are unbelievable. I have a 200 hp johnson (j200stledm) on a 20 foot javelin f/s. Got it now running pretty good ( still working on the loading problem ). My concern now is that my rpm's are too low still. Im only getting 5100 at wot at about 60mph with my raker 14.5 by 24 inch prop. The last few years i was getting 5400- to 5500 at about 67 mph with the same prop. Im very concerned about causing engine damage at those rpm's.
My questions are, can I run it for awhile at those rpms without causing damage? ( have two tournaments coming up the next two- weeks really need to use the boat if possible)
Was running at 5400-5500 also too low?
Should I change pitch?- ( tried a 23inch aluminum prop and only got 4900rpm)
By going down in prop size should i except a big loss in top end speed.
The engine was just tested by a certified mechanic, compression was good, spark was good, timing was good, and the carbs and throttle were adjusted.
My prop was just redone this year and I think some of my rpm loss has something to do with that.
Is it possible that my loading problem is not that at all and it is just running too hot after hard runs? (after long runs or hard runs wont start back first time i try, spits, little water pressure, and bogs then dies-just wondering not too sure) sorry for the long post Thanks
