RPM problems with 40 hp yamaha 2 stroke

When at crusing speed , aprx 4000 rpm ,sometimes rpm will drop to 3200 rpm and when i increase throttle to wot does not increase but very little, However I
can pull throttle all way back and then to wot and will run ok for few minutes and then same thing happens all over again.I have cleaned carb.s and new plugs to no avail .

when this happens try squeezing the primer bulb
it will either drop down or pick up

also try pushing in the choke, if it has solenoid choke, some have a primer choke since u never stated the year

let us know how it turned out

Fuel pump going bad or possible debris in the tank that is partially clogging the fuel pickup tube.

As Silvertip says the signs are of a fuel restriction.
