Just bought a Stingray 200CS with a 4.3GL-A engine. I had the previous owner start it and it sounded just fine.
A few days after getting it home I started it and again it sounds ok but I noticed the RPMs where about 3000.
It does not sound like the engine is running at 3000rpms. I sold my Regal with a 5.7GL which idled at about
600rpms. What should it idle at and how can I check to see if the tach is reading right?

Thanks Bond-o. I thought of that now to find someone that has something I can use. 650-750 sounds right. Thanks again.

Don S thank you for that information. I know it has to be a problem with the tach because the engine is NOT running at 3000rpm, it is more like 600 or so.
