seem to be having a hard time getting a answer on this question

i have a 1972 50 hp evinrude electric shift that i just installed on a 18 ft bass tracker aluminum with mostly flat bottom very wide

trying to increase rpm have a 011002 prop which converts to a 13 3/4 x 15

i think reducing the dia would change but what effect does the pitch play and which way to go

also someone suggested raising the motor how viable is this would save money

Re: Rpm's Up?

Reducing diameter will not have a positive effect on efficiency. We only lower pitch to gain rpm as an absolute last ditch effort. We work with the set up first. Increasing the X dimension (raise the motor) is the place to start. Very few things you do will increase efficiency across the entire rpm band. Raising the motor, to a point, is one that will.
