I have a 72 Johnson 100hp (100esl72r) and i got the Seloc manual. it doesnt look like there is a gasket where the impellar housing meets with the impellar plate? When i do this service, would you recommend puting a small bead of RTV around the base of the housing?

Thank you

the impellor housing has a small molded o-ring for a seal. I still use a very thin bead of OMC type-M or 3M #847.

does the manual call for RTV. I rather doubt it. if any sealer maybe a thin bead of adhisive M or sealer 1000. take the RTV in your throwing hand. walk to your fence. launch said RTV with all your might. thats good excersise and about the best thing I can say for RTV and outboards :)
but mostly we just surfaced the housing and put them on if they had no oring :) do use a straiht edge and a feeler gauge to check the housing for warpage. another reason I never reuse them. if warped more than about.004" surface it if more it may be replacement time.
