Rub Rail Came Loose

Took out my 20' 94 Hydrasport for a shake down run offshore this past week. Boat ran fine but the rubber "tube" that goes inside the rub rail came loose. My question is do I have to replace the whole entire rub rail or is there some easy way to attach the rubber "tube" back into the rub rail. Hope this makes sense.

You should be able to press it back in with a blunt screwdriver.

There is no problem pushing the insert back into the rail. I can push it back in with my bare hands. The problem is that it fits loose. Trying to figure a way where it won't slip out again. I should have been more clear.

Just checked out West Marine prices for rub rail replacement, not cheap.

Thanks!

I would put some 5200 sealant in there but you have to find something to push against it while it's drying. I had the same issue but mine was on the trailer when i fixed it. I was able to get a long piece of wood and use the trailer and the boat to hold it in place while it applied pressure. In the water though I'm not sure how you'll create the leverage. Good luck.

The rub rail covers the area that attatches the top and bottom sections of your boat.Just in case see if you can take a peek from the inside of your boat, and make sure there is no seperation happening.

Jim
