Restoring a 1965 fiberglass 17' outboard and missing the corner cap piece that rivets to the portside aft/transom rub rail. I plan on removing the old vinyl inserts and repairing any issues the original aluminum rub rail has and I would sure like to be able to finish it off with that corner cap. Am I going to have to find this in some boat junkyard or can you still buy the part from a wholesaler? It seems like it's a pretty standard part but for some reason I feel a quest is on the horizon! Appreciate any help. I and the boat are located in south Florida near West Palm Beach.

Re: rub rail corner cap

I had the same trouble with a corner cap that was missing from 'Nostalgic' (below). I stupidly knocked one of the caps off coming out of my slip too quickly in a crosswind. Turns out the caps were made by the manufacturer which does not exist anymore.
I hope you have better luck. I would scour every boat salvage around, maybe you will find it. I ended up going with another rub rail all together. Expensive mistake.

good luck
