Below is a clos up of a section of the rub rail on my MFG Gypsy. I have two questions:

1-In the picture, you can see that the rubber part is partially out. I cannot seem to get it to go back into place. Is there some secret to this?

2-At some point I will be repainting. SHould I remove the rub rail completly of just mask it off? If it is better to remove how do I do this and once removed, wil lthe boat seprarate into two sections?

Thanks..

Re: Rub Rail question

Spray some wd-40 on it so it will slip..... do this during a hot time of the day..... and use a flat tip screw driver, or paint scraper, or a window screen tool and it takes patience. Work it back in.

Re: Rub Rail question

Ahh, thanks guys!

I was really concerned about taking that off. Just the logistics of doing it alone was really bothering me. Glad I can mask. I will work on that in a couple of days. Just got off midnight this morning so going to sleep then picnic someplace. Really should mow grass tomorrow so maybe Monday.
