Hey everyone.

As some of you may already know, I'm in the process of restoring a '57 Red Fish. I have a question about how the rub rail would go on.

I've looked at the rub rails here at iboats but am not seeing what I need. Actually I do see it, but I don't know how it would attach to my boat. I get how the one's that have the aluminum insert that grip the ledge on my boat, but it's not the rail that I need. I need a pretty beefy 1/2 round. I've attached a couple of photos of the lip that goes around the whole boat. Maybe I'm over thinking this, but can someone help me out?

Re: Rub Rail Question

I know that sometimes it's difficult to find an original type rub rail for an old boat. That may mean that you will have to refit.

You may have to attach a receiver first, then the rub rail. The receiver is usually a strip of plastic with an upper and lower lip that the rub rail will "snap" onto. You may have to rivet the receiver in place.

I've used Taco brand several times with good results.

Good luck!
