How important is the rubber lip on the cavatation plate on a Volvo 280 outdrive? Is this device to prevent water from backing up into you exhaust while in reverse?<br />
Hi,<br />I feel that it is important. It is to help stop water from getting into the motor when you slow down quickly or are sitting at the beach and stopping the wave water from washing into the motor.<br />...hve fun...corm
I have read that if you have replaced the exhaust bellows with the model that has a check valve in it that you can remove the rubber lips but I don't think it is a disadvantage to leave them there?
