While changing the water pump on my 1989 150HP Yamaha, I noticed the rubber seals under the water pump needed to be replaced - the spring inside the rubber seal came apart. Can these rubber seals be easily replaced? It would be extremely helpful if someone replied with the steps to replace the seals. Thanks!

Im pretty sure you could slip a flat head underneath it and pry up. You wouldnt be damaging anything since the spring inside is already ruined. Then pop the new one in with a rubber mallet and a short 2x4.. something flat. Or the mallet itself but ehh.. thats not so safe.

remove the 4 bearing housing bolts, thouroughly clean the housing area from drebris, gentlty pry up the housing with 2 screwdrivers.
carefully pry out the seals. use the correct tool and PRESS not hammer the new seals into the housing with both seal springs up and to the same depth you recorded the original ones to.
then using a new housing oring slip it back down the shaft and torque the bolts.
its very simple.
but pay attention or it bites you.
