I some times use my boat where there are no proper docks or jettys and I have to beach the boat bow first, I have made a bow strip of 304 grade stainless steel.
I have used a piece a of stainless steel 25 mm wide by 3 mm thick and 2 meters long ( one inch wide by six feet long Aprox). What I did, is drill holes every 100 mm along the stainless stell strip, I prepared the hull( sand papered, roughen), epoxied and screwd the strip onto the flat section of the v part of the bow using stainless steel screws.I used the epoxy glue to strenghten the bond between the hull and the rubbing strip as well as toseal all screw holes , what do you guys think about this installation. kind regards William Wright,

Sounds as though you did a good job JC. It'll save your bows getting beat up. Probably looks good too.

Just a thought: Do you boat in salt? If so, with 304 stainless, check that you have good zincs. If you have other stainless fittings on your boat, they will probably be 316 grade, which means that you could get an interaction beteeen the two grades and possible eventual corrosion on your bow strip.

If that strip is all the stainless you have, then zincs in salt are still a must, or your prop and leg will suffer.

Thank you for the replies, Yes I will let you guys know how it works out, this particular boat will be used on inland lakes and rivers , no salt water. Is there a big difference between 304 and 316 stainless steel,
Regards William Wright.
