Need temporary help--manual on order--in meantime here is my problem. Have been fighting a missing cylinder ignition problem since vacation--during vacation had motor problem of which power pack was checked-it was ok, checked wiring from timer base. Voltage probes thru multiplug connector at timer base showed no voltage thru one wire. Part was not available at that time from this dealer(which was a distance from home). Arrived home, local dealer had one but no one to install it, carried out door later was installed by another dealer. Labor paid to install since I did see the technician locate no voltage thru previous test, felt confident that replacement would cure problem. WRONG, run today with same problem reapearing of missing cylinder. Can someone tell me the voltage thru the powerpack connectors to timer base, the proper way to check this and voltage to coils required. The manual I have ordered is on backorder. Holiday weekend and curious if timer base is laying down or if power pack is bad now, the same cylinder as before is without voltage. Have camera ready and can send pictures via e-mail to simplify communication. Thanks Dewly

I am not sure what timer this engine has, I think it is a 120 90 degree looper with Quick Start.
The output for the timer sensor should be about 0.5 volts using a peak reading meter. The manual I am looking at says to connect black lead of meter to termial E, then alternately connect to the 4 port and 4 stbr termials, you should get 0.5 volts with peak reading meter at cranking rpm.
Ohmmeter test by connecting black lead to termial E, then red lead to the other 8 termials, the reading you get depends on the meter, but all termials should be same.

HMMM,, interesting problem you have there.. does this problem happen right away or does i take a few mins. when cold?? If this motor has quickstart, which i belive it does. then you have top do 2 spark checks!! the first one with everything hooked up and a spark tester at 1/4 - 1/2 inch gap. then if everything checks out you have to disconnect the yellow/red wire going into the Power Pack (PP) then disconnect the white/black wire comming out of the port cyl. head and short that wire going into the PP to ground. and check your spark again.. What you might have is either a bad plug, plug wire, or maybe a corroded primary lead going into the ign. coil. check and clean all connections adn check spark again.. could also be a bad pack..

hope this helps.. good luck

SP
