Look for a difference from one spark plug to the other after idling it for a few minutes with clean plugs. The blown seal side will run leaner, or not at all.
You'll never be able to tell the difference with old spark plugs. They'll both be dark.
Another check you can do is to disconnect the oil recirculation line from the bottom and make sure it pumps out oil when you run it.
The only way to be certain is to visually inspect it though.

It turned out to be the right engine for your boat, eh?

Shure, i think it will be a very good engine for the boat... :D I am so "impatient" (does it make sense in english?) to try it, and maybe on eastern passage next summer ;)

:)
Careful in Eastern Passage. We went aground there last year. Fortunetly, it's only sandbars, and we got off with oars. Stay close to the islands (Lawlor's and McNab's)! :)
