It has been over 20 years ago, but I can still remember this Camping trip to Trinity.. I like to trout fishing and I can be out from 5am until the sun goes down. Well I was fishing the river and ran out of worms and was catching grasshoppers and using them. After awhile I thought about a little blue belly lizard, never tried those before why not.. So out I went chasing down small lizards and putting them in my pouch of my bag. Well I had 2 and wanted a third and off I went chasing a 3 inche blue belly into some small rocks. So I was standing over rocks, when that little sucker decided to run out and up my pants leg.. I let out a very loud scream that you could of heard 2miles back to the campground.. I had on bellbottoms with wide legs so he had plenty of room to run, until it got passed my knee high socks, that is when I panic and tried to push it back down my leg, which was not working. His little feet dug into my leg and I panic more. So I took a good look around to make sure nobody was watching and down came my pants to rescue my bait. So after I composed myself I turned around and looked up to see this old man watching me. All I could say, when he asked if I was alright. Is that my bait ran my leg.. He let out a chuckle and walked on. I however had more fun drowning a lizard all in the hopes I would catch a large trout.. I had a few good hits, but after the tail is gone I think the fish loose interest. But I did learn something that day.. Always pack rubberbands with you just incase you need live bait and that way they won't go up your leg.
