I just bought a 1964 Arkasnsas Traveler and other than being old and out of style its most obvious defect is a big crack across the windshield: Are replacements available any where and if so how ludicrously overpriced are they?

Clint your best bet is Ebay other than that you can form a new out out of Lexan or have one made out of Lexan . You wont walk into a boat shop and find one on the shelf though.

Ditto...post a pix so we can see what you're dealing with. You can put a new Lexan or plexi windshield on those old runabouts, sometimes using the old frame...sometimes using a newly-built frame. Sometimes you can just replace the cracked/damaged frame if it isn't a one-piece windshield. Pix would help.

I Don't beleive it would be possible to build one out of lexan, at least not in the original frame, there are compound curves. How are windshields like this made? They must be molded in an oven??????

Clint get us some pics if possible . Those windshields are possible to remake with a heat gun and a wooden buck its not easy but with some research patience nd persistence you can make a new one better than the old one. I do recomend Lexan over Plexiglass as it will heat and take shape better and be less likely to crack again from stress.
