Runners on hull sides (spray deflectors)?

I'm having a little issue with water spray being directed onto my kicker motor , my hull seems to ride pretty deep on plane and I think some spray deflectors on the side may help to cut down on some of it. What is the technical name for these runners? need a good search keyword.
I need to find out how to attach and what to make out of how wide ect ect.
It's on my 16' MFG and I have seen other similar boats that have the runners.

I've alsways called them "chines" or splash rails--a raised strip horizontal on the hull that deflects water that would otherwise travel up to the rubrail (which also serves as a splash rail.)
I don't know that one on the side will keep water from coming around the corner of the transom, though.

Ok I'll try using chines for a keyword, but yea the spray does come from the corners of the transom, it realy doesn't hurt anything except the water hits the kicker directly on the cav plate which diverts it into the spalshwell and some gets in the boat too.

try diverting it at the splashwell. Or maybe a vertical roll on the corner--like 3/4 of a pipe?
You could experiment with cut PVC glued or clamped on, and replace with a welded piece when you get it down.
I had water shooting under the transom rail and against the motor on turns, so I installed plywood baffles to deflect the water down.

Yes exactly, I notice alot of the 50-60's vintage boats have them.

They are Splash Rails as noted above, but I would not call them Chines as that is the point where the bottom of the hull ends and the sides begin. You only get two of those ;)
