Running finder wires under lip of boat

I am trying to run my fish finder wire from the back (sensor) of my boat to the front (display). Since I have no floor boards the easiest way seems to be running them under the "lip" of the top of the boat. I have two questions:

1. How do I keep the wire up under the lip (The lip curls under like a "J")?
2. How do I bring the wire out and up over the lip (I assume I don't want to cut it for strength purposes)?

See pics for additional info.

Thanks y'all.

i wouldnt run it on the outside of the boat or cut the j section as that would weaken the side. Going over the transom is not a problem as you tend not to run the transom into a dock but the side of the boat you will and it will cut the cable. run it on the inside and find a fancy way to hide it

Agree on NOT running it outside the boat. Go over the transom. Split tubing can be used over the cable to protect it. The electrical department of any home improvement store has a large number of self adhesive or other cable supports that can be used to secure the cable inside the boat. Go shopping for ideas. There are lots of plastic surface wiring conduit that can be used to secure the wire as well.
