Ok guys...
I have a 95 malibu with the 5.7L Merc in it.
After fixing the timing and fuel mixture i took it out to the lake today.
at an idle the temp was really warm around 210* Then I ran it out for a second to see if the thermo would open (if it was stuck) It dropped back down to 175-180ish. As soon as I stopped and idled it satrted to rise up again. So I pulled it out of the water.
Since I bought the boat everytime i run it on the hose I don't notice water right away out the exhaust. It seems I have to rev it up a bit to get Water coming out.
So here is my Question.
Do you think it is a thermostat issue?
Or a pump issue? if a Pump do I only have the one on the starboard side of the engine?
can they be rebuilt or do you need a whole new pump? (impeller change???)
if you have any other ideas on what it might be let me know.
I am fairly mechanical but have never working on Marine stuff.
thanks in advance!!
