running lean

thanks for the help in the past guys. How does one tell when the motor is running lean? (for future reference)

If it's running real lean it will cough and maybe cough and die...kinda like a sneeze.

To check for lean / rich at speeds above idle, hit the primer as you're running along. If the motor is lean it will pick up rpm (as you hit the primer) and then a split second later will start to blubber. A rich motor will blubber & lose rpm instantly. One that's "right" will do nothing for that split second and then blubber & lose rpm.
